Certquill vs Canva Bulk Create

Canva's Bulk Create feature can personalise a design from a connected spreadsheet — genuinely useful, and Canva has an enormous template library and a best-in-class visual editor. But it's a design tool, not a certificate-issuing platform: it doesn't send certificates to recipients or give them a way to verify one. Here's where each fits.

Where Canva is honestly better

• Design freedom. Canva's drag-and-drop editor and vast community template library (Canva alone lists thousands of certificate-template variations) beats any fixed set of 8 templates for pure visual customisation.
• It's a full design tool, not a single-purpose product. If certificates are one of several design needs you have (social posts, flyers, presentations), Canva covers all of them; Certquill only does certificates.
• Entry price for very small batches. Bulk Create works on Canva's free plan for small batches, and Canva Pro ($18/mo, or effectively ~$12/mo billed annually) is general-purpose design software, not certificate-specific pricing.

Where Certquill is a better fit

• You need certificates actually delivered, not just designed. Canva's Bulk Create produces personalised designs — getting each one to the right person by email is a separate, manual step you'd have to build yourself (e.g. downloading each file and mail-merging a separate email tool).
• You need recipients to be able to prove a certificate is genuine. Canva has no verification page, ID or QR-code concept — a Canva-designed certificate is just an image or PDF, with the same forgeability problem as any other design file.
• You're issuing at real volume. Canva's Bulk Create caps a single job at 300 rows and 150 connected data fields; Certquill's Business plan supports batches up to 20,000 rows.

A common pattern, honestly: some organisations design the certificate look-and-feel in Canva for a one-off event, then still need something like Certquill for the actual bulk issuing, emailing and verification layer on top.
